Dependability is ...

Being able to count on, depend on, or trust.

"Never put off till tomorrow what you can do today... Never trouble another for what you can do yourself." -- Thomas Jefferson

The following are some thoughts from our class on what dependability means to them.

One day I promised my friend I would help him set up for his birthday party the next day. So the next day before I left my grandma told me to come at a certain time. Then I went to help my friend. When it was time to go home I left. I was dependable to my friend and grandma.

I was dependable when I returned my report card on time for Mrs. Bogucki. Since I returned my report card on time she did not have to wait for me.

I had dependability when I turned in my poems. I only had a few done. I just kept on trying. I thought for a few minutes and wrote one down. I told people that I would get it done and I did. I just tried.

I was dependable when my mom asked me to empty the dishwasher and right that minute I put down what I was doing and emptied the dishwasher. I was dependable when my mom asked me to clean my room. I finished in two hours and then she said I could go outside. I was dependable when my mom asked me to vacuum.

I was dependable when my sister went into her house for a couple of minutes and she told me to wait outside and I did ... I didn't go anywhere.

My friend went to the pool with me. We went in the 12 foot end. We dove in and came up. We were going back. She was still paddling. I told her to grap my hand. I pulled her to where I was. She was scared and she held my hand. She got out at the last moment.

Once my dad told me to clean up my room and I did it. My dad also told me to come up and get dressed and I did. Once I did not let my brother down. I also did not let my friend down.

I was dependable when I did stuff that I was supposed to do but wasn't told to do.

I was dependable when my big brother could not find his work that he did at home. I said "I'll help you find it." He said thank you. So when I found it he probably thought I was dependable.

I was swimming with my nephew in the back yard and my mom depended on me to look after my nephew and not run off and play with my friends.

I was dependable when my baby brother wanted cookies so we worked together. I told him to catch the cookies when they fell and he did when I let them go.
