Create Your Own Presidential Candidate

Assignment:
Create Your Own Presidential Candidate

Due Date:
Students A-M: February 11th
Students N-Z: February 12th

What is included:
You will create your own presidential candidate and write a two page description (two sides) to include their position on at least three issues that are important to the American people. It cannot be a current presidential candidate. You can provide a short biography of your candidate. Remember, it is your view of what an acceptable presidential candidate should offer the American people. You can create your own party or they can be from the Democratic or Republican party. You will present a speech to the class as this candidate and should try to persuade them to vote for you. You must include at least one campaign poster for your presentation. If you wish, you can also provide handouts (leaflets) to the class. You can also dress as the candidate. Remember you should be persuasive when you give your speech. You must convince the class that they should vote for you.

How this will be graded:
  • Paper will be handed in to me and be checked for correct grammar, capitalization, detail, and topic.
  • Speech should be persuasive and you should not rely on reading it, but perhaps use index cards with main points to follow as you give your speech.
  • Poster should use correct grammar and capitalization. (Posters are only about fifty cents at Walmart.) I will buy them if you let me know within a week.
  • Creativity in writing and presentation.
Remember:
You have over a month for this assignment. This assignment should not appear as though you prepared it the night before it is due, or it will be graded that way.
THIS SHOULD BE AN INTERESTING AND EXCITING ASSIGNMENT.
ENJOY PREPARING FOR IT.
